The growth of Indian apparel Industry has been significant in the last decade and has emerged as the key sector for the Indian economy. The industry is facing many challenges and competition particularly on price quality and delivery schedule. To face the challenges the industry is reorienting. It is modifying its approach and integrating its manufacturing practices, merchandising function and other aspects to stay in competition. However, the industry needs well trained and competent professionals to advise the industry in these areas. The program apparel manufacturing and merchandising has been designed and tuned with the industry needs and the course curriculum will ensure students are equipped with necessary skills and core competencies in this field.
The graduates would work at middle management levels in manufacturing, export buying agencies placed in domestic and export industry.
Year I : The 2 semesters shall cover basic inputs on fashion and design with an over view of apparel industry textile knowledge, pattern making, computer application, fundamentals of marketing , quality management & production methods and techniques. At the end of the 1st year the student will have exposure to the industry in the form of internships.
Year II : The advance level of knowledge and learning would be acquired by students in the 2nd year through advance pattern making, grading , production management, cad, domestic and global trade, retailing, costing, with the introduction to finance management supply chain management, intellectual property rights. In the final semester the student shall undertake research based projects to be carried out with industrial support. |
