Satyam Fashion Institute -Student’s Work

CRAFT CLUSTER INITIATIVE

The Craft Cluster initiative at Satyam Fashion Institute is designed with the objectives to sensitize FASHION DESIGN students to the realities of the craft sector and give insight into regional sensibilities and diversities, resources and environment. Through this initiative, the student of fashion design has been successful in creating a widespread awareness and sensitivity in assimilating crafts into fashion and vice-versa. Under this dynamic initiative, the students of fashion design work closely with the artisans and weavers in clusters of India and undertake activities like diagnostic study, design intervention and prototype development.

Product developed by Fashion Design students on Zardosi work

Zardozi is a type of heavy and elaborate metal embroidery on a silk, satin, or velvet fabric base. Designs are often created using gold and silver threads and can incorporate pearls, beads, and precious stones. The completed zardosi work looks rather splendorous when you look at in real – which cannot be translated by the eyes of a camera. In modern day India, the work gained favour again – instead of the royals, the brides and even the bride grooms have taken zardosi work in a big way for their trousseau and designers use this work to embellish their signature outfits.
